Bikram’s 26 Postures

Just in case you were interested in what we “actually do” in class, here is a diagram of Bikram’s 26 Postures.

Each posture is performed twice. Usually, if you first do a posture on the right side, then you would do a left side and then do that all over again.

The first 45 minutes of the class is called the “balancing series”. In this series you stand up to do the postures and most of them involve some kind of balance.

The second 45 minutes of the class is spent on the floor. Usually by the time we get to these postures we are all warmed up and can stretch a lot easier.

Each posture benefits our bodies in a different way.

We are going to be taking a seminar/workshop tomorrow at our Yoga Studio with a man named Jason Winn. This seminar/workshop will help us understand more in depth how each posture benefits out bodies. We will provide an update on this seminar/workshop another day.
